چکیده
A new, biparental species of the genus Encarsia Förster (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), E. hera Lahey & Andreason, sp. nov. , is characterized based on morphological and molecular data. The parasitoid was reared from puparia its host, an undescribed grass-feeding aleyrodine Aleurocybotus Quaintance Baker (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) collected in Gainesville, Florida. same whitefly newly recorded Charleston, South Carolina, where it a pest ornamental Muhly grass [ Muhlenbergia capillaris (Lam.) Trin. (Poaceae)]. phylogenetic analysis fragment 28S ribosomal DNA 34 placed within luteola -group, result concordant with morphology. key to provided.

Two new species of Eretmocerus Haldeman (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) parasitizing Aleurolobus rhododendri Takahashi and Dialeuropora decempunctata (Quaintance & Baker) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) from Taiwan
BACKGROUND Species of Eretmocerus Haldeman develop as primary ecto-endoparasites of whiteflies (Rose and Rosen 1992). Currently, the genus Eretmocerus comprises 86 species worldwide, of which 11 species have been previously recorded from Taiwan (Shih et al. 2015). Despite having been recently revised for Taiwan, two new species are here added to the Taiwan fauna. NEW INFORMATION Two new speci...
متن کاملIsolation and Characterization of Nine Microsatellite Loci for a Parasitoid Wasp, Encarsia smithi (Silvestri) (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae)
The parasitoid wasp Encarsia smithi is an important agent in the classical biological control of two species of invasive spiny whiteflies, Aleurocanthus spiniferus and Aleurocanthus camelliae. To evaluate the performance of parasitism indexed by genetic diversity, a highly polymorphic genetic marker is required. In this report, nine microsatellite loci are described for E. smithi. The microsate...
متن کاملThe Encarsia flavoscutellum-group key to world species including two new species from China (Hymenoptera, Aphelinidae)
Two new species of Encarsia flavoscutellum-group, E. baoshana Li & Geng, sp. n. and E. longchuana Li & Geng, sp. n. are described from China, and photomicrographs are provided to illustrate morphological characters of the new species. A key to all six described species of the E. flavoscutellum-group is given.
متن کاملBiology of Bemisia tuberculata Bondar (Aleyrodidae) and parasitism by Encarsia porteri (Mercet, 1928) (Hymenoptera, Aphelinidae) on cassava plants.
The whitefly Bemisia tuberculata has caused serious damage to cassava producing areas in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. However, little is known about the biological characteristics of this species. The objective of this study was therefore, to monitor the development of this species bred on cassava plants under controlled greenhouse conditions, and to determine its most vulnerable stages and...
متن کاملDeep Sequencing-Based Transcriptome Analysis Reveals the Regulatory Mechanism of Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) Nymph Parasitized by Encarsia sophia (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae)
The whitefly Bemisia tabaci is a genetically diverse complex with multiple cryptic species, and some are the most destructive invasive pests of many ornamentals and crops worldwide. Encarsia sophia is an autoparasitoid wasp that demonstrated high efficiency as bio-control agent of whiteflies. However, the immune mechanism of B. tabaci parasitization by E. sophia is unknown. In order to investig...
